Documents
To enter Croatia (and cross through Slovenia), Italian citizens must have a valid passport or identity card; no entry-visa required. Croatia accepts conditions of the country that issues documents regarding children (other countries’ citizens or people without a citizenship should address to the Croatian general consulate).
Customs
Everything necessary, for personal use only, is tax-free, but it must be brought out of the country once you leave. The sport equipment, cameras, digital cameras, cellular phones and other electronic equipment must be declared entering the country. You are allowed to bring, for personal use only, into the country: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250gr. of tobacco – 0,05ls of perfume and 0,25 of Eau de Toilette, 1l of Champagne (sparkling wine) 0,75 l of alcoholics. Moreover, it is possible to bring some presents within a value not superior to € 50. The following limits must be respected re-entering European Union countries: 200 cigarettes or 100 cigarillos or 50 cigars; 1l of alcoholics over 22% or 2l of Champaign and 2 l of non-fizzy wine; 500 gr. of coffee; 50 gr. of perfume or 0,25 of Eau de Toilette; and other commodities within an all-in value of € 175, excluded leagues and plating in gold. You can import in Croatia until 1kg of meat products for personal use but not raw meat.
Speed limits and maximum limit of Alcohol rate
Croatia has different speed limits : 50 km/h in urban areas; 80 km/h out of urban areas (if otherwise not indicated); 130 km/h on highways. Maximum limit of alcohol rate allowed in the blood: 0.0 per thousand.
Petrol stations The petrol stations are opened every day from 7 a.m. until 8. p.m. and until 10 p.m. during the tourist season. In the major cities and along the roads out of the urban areas, there are no-stop working petrol stations.
Rent cars Rent-a-Car agencies are located in each main tourist center. Renting an average size car costs daily about € 40. Those who wants to rent a car must be at least 23 years old and including a minimum 3 years of guide experience.
Driving in Croatia (documents) Don’t forget that your insurance agency must issue a green card to make driving your car in Croatia possible and also to cross Slovenia. If the car is not yours, you need its owner’s proxy. You do not need an International driving license. Each accident must be indicated to the police, to attest the damage; in this way you will not have any legal problems leaving the country. Cars with evident damages on the car’s bodywork can leave the country only with a police declaration issued. The position indicator must be on while overtaking, which should be avoided in case of an existing car-columns or while the school bus stops and children get off or get onto the bus. If you are hauling another car, remember to expose a triangle on the leading car windscreen and another one on the haled car backside!

You can use a phone card in phone boxes, purchased in the post offices, kiosks and tobacconists.
Health Care For UK nationals, hospital and other medical treatment as well as some dental treatment is normally free on presentation of a UK passport. UK residents who are not nationals, and are visiting the country for a short stay, should take an E111 form to cover any medical care. Prescribed medicines must be paid for. All other international travelers are advised to purchase full medical insurance in advance. We further recommend an insurance package where also luggage - accident and liability - insurance is included.
Vaccination: not required. Banks and credit cards In every tourist center you will find ATMs. Foreign currency (up to the amount of 1500 Kuna) can be exchanged in banks and in authorized agencies.
Camping Camping out of the camping sites as well as sleeping in a mobile camp is not allowed. Most of the 118 Croatian camping sites are located on the Adriatic coast. (www.camping.hr)
Post offices Post offices are open from Monday to Friday from 7a.m. to 7p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. on Saturdays.
Gastronomy Fish and shellfish are real delicacies of the Adriatic coast. Especially frogfish, sea bream, lobster, lobster crab and scampi. Roast sardela is also very appreciated.
Tips If the restaurant service was satisfactory, a tip of about 10 % of your bill amount should be left.
Cats and dogs In the internationally recognized documents of vaccination (issued by a veterinarian), a confirmation of an anti-rabies vaccination for animals of age superior to three months (made at least 15 days before your holidays and maximum 6 months before) must be presented.
